Lívia Járóka withdraws from the vice-presidential candidacy in the second round of the European Parliament (EP) vice-presidential election in favor of Roberts Zile, the candidate of the European Conservatives and Reformers (ECR)

Delegation leader Tamás Deutsch stated in Strasbourg on Tuesday afternoon that it is mathematically more likely that the left-liberal majority European Parliament will not vote for the vice-presidency of Lívia Járóka. The Fidesz politician explained that as an independent representative, it is of political importance that Járóka collected the declarations of support necessary for candidacy. He also reported that in the second half of the legislative cycle, representatives of the ruling party will be members of specialized EP committees.

Lívia Járóka wrote in a Facebook post on Tuesday evening that it was a great honor for her to be able to serve her country and people as vice-president of the European Parliament for the past five years. "The work that has begun does not stop." In the future, I will continue to fight committedly for the interests of the ten million European Roma, Hungarians, and all disadvantaged citizens of the Union, as a representative of the European Parliament, the politician wrote.
