You won't believe it, but 444 reinvented Spanish wax. They know about the press and its occupation by Fidesz. That's why they were able to describe many times in the midst of many characters how old Orbán's plan was, how independence was destroyed by these rural, desperate guys fighting their own demons. How horrible, how sad. Of course, the fact that the author of the article is Dániel Pál Rényi gives a special flavor to the seriousness of the mourning over the failure of the so-called free press.

It is good to know about him that his grandfather, Péter Rényi, not only worked for state security in Kádárism, but was the deputy editor-in-chief of Népszabadság from 1956 (!) until 1988. Due to his known influence, it is generally believed that he was the de facto director of the Party's paper. Note the date: from 1956. Revolutionaries are still shot dead in the streets, executions last for years, but the pater familias of the Rényis is already the head of the MSZMP and its mouthpiece.

Dániel Pál Rényi's father is the founder of Milla, and he is also unbiased and independent in Hungarian. I really like it when people with backgrounds like this try to explain to me how and how the free press works. He must have received a lot of advice to consider from his grandfather. Okay, let's go through the obligatory rounds: no one is responsible for the sins of their ancestors! It's not elegant to blame this either, until the person you blame doesn't prevail in the same circle and doesn't voice the same things as the ancestors. See the Donáth family as an example. In such cases, the main rule changes with reason and right. It's there whether you like it or not. For the life of me, I will never understand why this damn independence has to be disguised. Are these words some kind of fetish or what? Would the world collapse if they at least told us honestly whose cart they were pushing?

Back to the topic of the article. We can read it for the hundredth time, and the chronicler also comes to life before our mind's eye, as he puts into words his concern for the fate of his nation, and sadly outlines what has happened in his dear country in the last decade. This may be a mandatory round, every four or five months, right now on line 444. And I have to admit, I admire their dedication and tireless perseverance in this area. Because this layer, the Ávós-impex elite and their descendants - just like, say, in the SZFE case - quite simply declare with conviction that the press is theirs. This is not a matter of debate, there is no need to make arguments. At that time, it was decided that everyone should adapt to this, the guys from the countryside already know where they belong, where the boundaries are, and how far they can go. And I honestly believe that they are not lying about this. I mean, it really stuck to them that everything is theirs and they don't even need a reason. That's how they got used to it, huh?

The general claim of every press-fearing article from the left is that the media has been taken over by the right wing, while they can't prove it with anything. Have you raised capital for your goals? Yes, that's how it works in democracies. Grandpa Rényi certainly did not need capital to start Népszabadság, it was enough to throw out the inappropriate elements with former members of Ávós. Or I don't know, the author of this article is definitely more at home in this topic. Didn't the right wing like the fact that they were able to own a nuanced part of the press in the whole of the 90s and roughly in the 2000s as well? Sure, I didn't like it. But how can we imagine that the role created by the left didn't suit us, right? Because in the depths of every statement like this, a single pain simmers and rumbles: what do we imagine that we will not pass away in silence, hopefully amidst great suffering?

What has this national side found, that it is fighting against the elite, formed and consolidated with the help of decades and the party-state - let's put it very euphemistically - and whose assets and influence were not disturbed until the 2010s? Why don't we just accept that it doesn't work for us? Starting in 1945, the right-wing elite was systematically exterminated, chased away, and made impossible. In this, the Komcs knew no mercy. Here comes this Orbán and he has the courage to say - what to say, do about it - that it is time to build up this elite that has been destroyed and ceased to exist over the decades, namely, from a historical point of view, to raise it up in a short time, and at the same time to push down the leftists, who are strengthened with hard-to-get privileges ?
