Forty-nine people were pushed in front of a train in Germany last year, the German newspaper Die Welt reported. The Austrian news portal Express described the figure as a new form of terror, as in 2020 there were twenty fewer, 29 such cases in Germany.

More and more provinces are forced to face this phenomenon. In November, for example, a 37-year-old man was pushed onto the tracks in Munich, the train ran over him, and one of his legs had to be amputated. In the same month, a 70-year-old man in Hamburg was injured when a 32-year-old offender pushed him onto the tracks. In October, a similar incident took place on the platform of the Freiberg am Neckar train station in the province of Baden-Württemberg: a young man was arguing with his girlfriend. However, Die Welt notes: neither he nor the other 48 unfortunate people died; according to federal police statistics, there were also deaths in previous years.

According to Die Welt, while people under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or with a disturbed state of mind, commit such terrible crimes, it is noteworthy that in more than half of the cases, the perpetrator was a foreign citizen.

The paper believes that social and cultural reasons should be sought behind their actions, such as the lack of a vision for the future resulting from integration problems. - After 2015, we could see that the psychological problems of some immigrants were not treated sufficiently, Martin Rettenberger, director of the criminal documentation center, Kriminologischen Zentralstelle, told the newspaper, referring to the wave of migration that also reached Germany in 2015-16.
