The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó offered Budapest as the venue for the peace talks for both the Russian and Ukrainian sides on Friday evening.

Péter Szijjártó, logging in live from the Brussels airport, said: in recent weeks, many people, including the largest countries in the world, have tried almost everything offered by diplomacy in order to avoid war in Hungary's neighborhood, Ukraine. War is the worst possible scenario, it requires human lives, he emphasized, adding that Hungary would like peace in its neighborhood and an end to the war.

THE EARLIER THE WAR ENDES, THE LESS HUMAN SACRIFICES WILL BE REQUIRED - THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN ECONOMY AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS CALLED ATTENTION.

He noted: obviously, negotiations are the basic condition for the creation of peace. Since there was a dispute about their possible location - in Minsk, Warsaw - Péter Szijjártó recommended Budapest to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Andriy Yermak, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi's chief of staff, which neither party shied away from during the telephone conversations.

Budapest can serve as a safe location for both the Russian and Ukrainian negotiating delegations, stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

HE EMPHASIZED: HUNGARY WAS INTERESTED IN PEACE AND EXPRESSED HOPE THAT IT COULD CONTRIBUTE TO THE CREATION OF PEACE WITH THE LOCATION OFFER.

The sooner the talks start, the sooner there will be peace and the fewer people will have to die in the war, said Péter Szijjártó, indicating that he is traveling from Brussels to New York, where he will discuss the conflict with UN leaders.
