The 777 Community Association and the Hungarian language, literature and history teacher Márffy Bence received the recognition for young people from the Civil Hungary Foundation.

For the seventeenth time, the Young People for Civic Hungary Award was presented. This year, the board of trustees of the Foundation for Citizens of Hungary received more than a hundred outstanding proposals, which, after reviewing them, decided to divide the award this time between a young talent, Hungarian language, literature and history teacher Bence Márffy, and a community doing exemplary work, the 777 Community Association, he said. Ádám Kavecsánszki, chairman of the board of trustees, on Friday at the foundation's headquarters.

László Kövér, the President of the Parliament and a member of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for Citizens of Hungary (PMA), asked in his celebratory speech whether the current processes in Europe, which seem increasingly dangerous, are stifling the European spirit, distorting European culture beyond recognition, or whether the muses will lead us out again. Europe, including Hungary, from the labyrinth of history.

Gergely Gulyás , member of the PMA's board of trustees, spoke about how the 777 Community Association and the 777 blog they started strive to present Christianity and present Christian values authentically.

According to the rationale of the board of trustees, the 777 Community Association received the recognition for its dedicated representation of Christian values, its outstanding public life and community-building activities in the online space and among young people.

"According to the old idea, Europe is built on three hills, these three hills are the Acropolis, the Capitol and Golgotha," said Gergely Gulyás. Praising the 777 Community Association, the minister who heads the Prime Minister's Office spoke about how all the elements of the legacy of this triple heritage are a necessary and essential part of what we once called Europe and what we now call Hungary. According to the head of the ministry, this ideological heritage is under attack today.

"The culture of abolition, which strives to have a total influence on human life, threatens both freedom and true democracy," he stated, adding: that is why they thank a community that strives to present Christianity and present Christian values in everyday life. "A committed and active Hungary based on Christian values cannot exist in the future without the organizations dedicated to taking on and displaying these values," said Gergely Gulyás.

On behalf of the 777 Community Association, Tibor Hortobágyi expressed his thanks. The journalist said that they will continue to work to address young people in the future, because they feel it is important that they speak openly and honestly about their faith and bear witness.

According to the rationale of the board of trustees, Bence Márffy was awarded the recognition for his innovative pedagogical methods and his activities facilitating digital history education. The winner was praised by László Kövér, the President of the Parliament. In his speech, quoting the writer László Németh, he said that European culture tried to compensate for the damage caused to Hungarians since Mohács by the history of Europe. The Speaker of the House sees it as questionable whether this statement will remain valid in the 21st century. "The question is whether the current, increasingly fatal processes in Europe will stifle the European spirit and distort European culture beyond recognition," he said.

According to László Kövér, in the time ahead, all scribes must make their decision on which side they stand on: the side of those who build culture or those who destroy it, those who strengthen the soul or those who kill souls. "Teacher Bence Márffy made his decision: he joined the army of defenders and builders of Hungarian self-awareness," he said.

In his acceptance speech, Bence Márffy said, among other things: "The greatest reward I have ever received is the simple opportunity to help young people learn to think critically about the world around them." He added that this confirms that his task is not over yet, the real work is just beginning.
