You will have to pay for parking in new places from September, in addition, the 600 forint hourly fee will be new for motorists in some places, or the fact that in some places you have to pay for parking even until 10 p.m. In three districts of the capital, speed limits of 30 km/h add to the otherwise not rosy traffic situation. Mayor Gergely Karácsony announced in April 2020 that he plans to significantly reduce traffic and speed reduction in road traffic in Budapest.

The Metropolitan Municipality will completely transform the parking system from September 5, 2022. For motorists, the 600 forint hourly fee will be new in some places, or the fact that in some places you have to pay for parking until 10 p.m., but the really big change will be in the area of parking zones. In Buda, II. and the XI. district, and in Pest Kőbánya and Zugló will expand their paid parking zones - these changes were not included in the plan map of the Capital City Municipality until now - reported Napi.hu.

"It's a rip-off" - not only the toll increase in the capital can hurt motorists

The chairman of the law and interest protection committee of the Hungarian Automobile Club called the introduction of the new parking system another measure against motorists.

The most spectacular expansion of the paid parking zone affects the drivers of Kőbánya. Until now, in the Xth district, you only had to pay in two smaller areas around the Gyakorló utca housing estate and the housing estate next to Üllői út. In the future, however, several areas will be paid.

In April 2020, Gergely Karácsony announced that he plans to significantly reduce traffic and speed reductions in Budapest: the maximum speed limit of 70 km/h on expressways would be reduced, and the maximum speed limit on non-main roads would be limited to 30 km/h.
