Minister of Technology and Industry László Palkovics has resigned, index.hu reports. According to some sources, energy issues are behind the resignation of the minister. At the same time, Index reported that the reason behind the departure of the head of the ministry is that the prime minister would change the ministerial structure, and transport would be removed from the ministry. The Prime Minister's Office also reacted to the press report.

According to the portal's confirmed information from several sources, László Palkovics did not undertake to lead a streamlined ministry in the future. They know that the Prime Minister would slim down the Ministry of Technology and Industry, and transport could be transferred under the control of János Lázár.

"The prime minister decides on the members of the government, if there is a change in the structure of the government, we will inform the public about it," wrote the Prime Minister's Office in connection with the press report.

László Palkovics has been a member of the Orbán government since 2014 - at that time he was appointed as the State Secretary responsible for higher education at the Ministry of Human Resources, and later, in 2016, he also took over the responsibilities of public education. In the fourth Orbán government, he headed the newly created Ministry of Innovation and Technology. In addition to energy policy, the Széchenyi award-winning mechanical engineer's portfolio also includes state MVM, waste management, transport, climate issues, industrial policy, technological development, employment and environmental protection.

It has already been suggested that Palkovics would resign from his position, but Viktor Orbán did not give his blessing to it then. The Prime Minister is currently on his way to Uzbekistan, so for now there is no news about how he reacted to the fact of his resignation this time, read the Magyar Hírlap.
