Organized by the Miskolc Club of the Civil Solidarity Forum, in cooperation with the ÉLETFA Foundation for Social and Environmental Culture, the ÉLETMŰTÁRS Art and Civics Association, the Circle of Poetry Friends, Why should we open champagne on New Year's Eve? with the title, on November 28, 2022 at 5:00 p.m., the Civil Academy program will take place at the House of Science and Technology (Görgey A. u. 5) in Miskolc.

Guest professor of the program: security policy expert Prof. György Nógrádi, contributor: Dr. Rita Hortai and Julianna Asztalos, representative of the Circle of Poetry Friends and interlocutor Dr. Attila Lengyel, president of the CÖF Club Miskolc.

Everywhere on our planet, people face tensions and conflicts. Dr. Attila Lengyel writes in the press release. The fact that the number of inhabitants of the Earth is increasing dramatically, meanwhile the number of indigenous people in developed Europe is drastically decreasing, is a conflict in itself. While the world is debating whether there is a threat of a climate catastrophe, we are also witnessing the disappearance of native species in our country, for example. When the environmentally friendly energy use strategies were laid down while still listening to the profession, in which all possible energy carriers were given a role, especially gas and oil, as well as nuclear energy, the global economic thinking and operation that could have been the depository of the cooperation against the climate catastrophe seemed to be realized. . However, the United States of America did not sign or later withdraw from any of the major climate protection agreements. Instead of solving the major threats to the world (overpopulation; illegal migration; climate protection; avoiding nuclear wars), the USA hopes to create a unipolar world order, which in turn requires weakening potential opponents. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the USA started wars in many parts of the world to export the democracy it operated, to spread the American way of life, but mostly to maintain and expand its geopolitical power. It does not shy away from interference in internal affairs, violent and subversive actions against legitimate governments, and military actions based on false grounds. Unfortunately, the leaders of the European Union subserviently surrendered to the USA, thereby losing the opportunity to participate in shaping world politics. America is now fighting against Russia, a so-called proxy war, in which he uses Ukraine as a target. Ukrainian soldiers are dying for them, the Ukrainian people are suffering the consequences of the war, and they are preparing for what will certainly be a terrible winter. Last but not least, Europe is also waiting with trepidation mixed with fear for the abandonment of the usual comfortable, warm apartments, the limitation of industrial production, and the loss of jobs.

Behind the above, of course, is the quest for world power, which has influenced the lives of humanity since the Cold War. By now, this global game is starting to become multi-player, China, India, and the Arab world also want to be strong advocates of their interests. Prof. György Nógrádi, one of the prominent Hungarian experts on the subject, was invited to give a briefing on this multi-player game.

The meeting will be held in the auditorium. The number of seats is limited, so they ask for seats to be transferred from time to time. If you have a camping chair, bring it with you. The use of warm clothing and a mouth mask is recommended. Everyone should bring a pen to sign the attendance sheet, the organizers ask. Those interested are welcome from 4:30 p.m.
