Machaela Cavanaugh's thread broke when they voted on gender reassignment rules for minors.

A session of the Nebraska Legislature descended into chaos Friday morning after a Democratic lawmaker began shouting in defense of transgender people amid debate over a bill that would ban sex-reassignment surgery on minors in the state, Fox News reported. The bill, which lawmakers eventually approved and sent to Republican Gov. Jim Pillen to sign into law,

prohibits gender reassignment procedures for minors, as well as abortion after the 12th week of pregnancy.

During the session, Democratic state Sen. Machaela Cavanaugh took to the podium and repeatedly shouted, “Transgender people belong here, we need transgender people, we love transgender people. You matter. You matter and I fight for you. I'm not going to stop,” shouted Cavanaugh, who refers to her gender identity with the pronoun she/her in her Twitter bio.
