The 765 applicants submitted in the first quarter of this year requested a total of HUF 4.1 billion in support from the Mészáros Group foundation. Pursuant to the decision of the board of trustees, 53 applications, worth HUF 248 million, received a positive evaluation.

The Pro Filii Foundation, which coordinates the charitable activities of the Mészáros Group and spends one billion forints a year in support, decided on the tenders announced for the fourth time this year before Christmas in order to ensure that the grants reach the needy as soon as possible - read the announcement of the Mészáros Group.

As it was written, in the first quarter of this year, on the recommendation of the evaluation committee made up of the managers of the company group, the board of trustees decided to grant almost HUF 57 million to 22 applicants out of the 230 applications received from private individuals, and HUF 191 million to 31 of the 535 applications received from civil and non-profit organizations. In accordance with the purpose of the Pro Filii Foundation

priority was given to applications whose target group is children disadvantaged for medical, social or other reasons, and with the help of the support, a wider range of assistance can be implemented.

The foundation supports 20 out of 22 private individuals raising a child suffering from a rare disease or with a physical disability, and the amount of support can be used for the children's medical treatment. Among others, a twelve-year-old boy who was born with a very rare condition called Smith-Lemli-Opitz syndrome, as well as a two-year-old boy who suffered multiple cerebral hemorrhages while still in the womb, may get a chance to recover.

Among the organizations, the Budapest Voluntary Rescue Association receives a grant of almost HUF 8.5 million, thanks to which it can acquire a life-saving research device. The Ments Életet Közhasznú Alapítvány, which organizes blood donations for children recovering from leukemia, also received a positive assessment.

In addition to social and health support, the foundation also decided to support cultural, scientific and sports tenders.

The Researchers' Night Foundation for European Science receives support for the organization of this year's Researchers' Night event series. The Free University of High School Students organizes university preparatory camps for high school students in Hungary and beyond, which can multiply the support received from the Pro Filii Foundation thanks to the volunteers participating in the program.

Krisztina Tóth, the social responsibility director of the Mészáros Group, is quoted in the announcement, who stated in connection with the first quarter application evaluations: "the almost 800 applications received prove that there is a huge demand for social responsibility in the competitive sector, in which the Mészáros Group is at the forefront. Since the foundation's operation, we have spent HUF two and a quarter billion to support NGOs and private individuals, and another HUF two billion through our strategic partners to the most vulnerable social strata."

More than ever before, we put more emphasis on supporting organizations that multiply the amounts spent for this purpose by adding their own resources

- underscored Krisztina Tóth, who is also the curator of the Pro Filii Foundation.

The result of the board of trustees' decision on the application materials received in the first quarter of 2024 can be read on the www.profilii.hu website.
