University students from Cluj present Székely, Szatmári and Moldavian dishes.

Thanks to the university students, various regions of Romania, including Székelyföld, Szilágyság, Szatmár, Mezőség, Moldavia, will be represented at the gastronomic festival that will be held on Monday at the Biodiversity Research Center of the University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine (USAMV) in Cluj.

The event, which will now be held for the 17th time, will be held on Monday, May 27, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. The university students will present dishes from the traditional products of their homeland along with recipe descriptions, which will be judged by experts in gastronomy and folk traditions and university instructors.

As it is written, university students acquire many skills in this way: inspection of organic farms and households, development of descriptions of traditional agricultural/food industry products, development of certification procedures for mountain products, local and ethical certification of products, protected designation of origin, protected geographical indication, developing a description of the guaranteed special product.

The announcement also states that the goal of the educational activity is to bring traditional peasant gastronomy out of oblivion, but also to train professionals from a Cluj university to develop an agricultural marketing approach - explained the coordinator of the event, a professor at the Faculty of Agriculture.

The gastronomic event will include, among others, the Székely goulash typical of Csíkszentkirály in Hargita county, Székely kalács typical of Csíkdánfalvá, goulash typical of Szatmár, Kolozsvár cabbage, stuffed cabbage from Katona village in Cluj county, smoked trout from Bukovina with pine from Suceava county, Armenian dalauzi (nut candy) from Szamosújvár, the Kolozs usual sheep's tokány in county Alparét.

The festival includes, among others, sweet corn málé from Almásszentmihály in Szilágy county, tochitura (vegetable meat dish) from Dobrudja county from Constanța county, salty kifli from Szilágyperecsen, the typical blackcurrant soup from Alsógyékenyes in Cluj county, cheese bag from Ferdinándújfalu in Bákó county (Nicolae Bălcescu village).

The event opens at 10 a.m. The jury members taste and evaluate the products presented by the students, and then present the traditional recipes. Visitors can taste the products presented by the students after 12:00 p.m., after the judging.
