This year, Laura Sarolta Baritz, a Dominican nun, received the European Citizen award. The jury selected the Hungarian nun from nearly three hundred candidates. The prestigious recognition has been awarded by the European Parliament since 2008.

At the beginning of Laura Baritz Sarolta's career, she was a trade development manager for a global soft drink company. After his mother's death, he entered the Dominican order. He continued his economic knowledge and studies.

Since then, he has been working for a people-centered economy and sustainable development in theory and practice.

Author of numerous scientific publications, he teaches the next generation to create an environmentally conscious economy. He also teaches at the Sapientia College of Religious Studies and the Corvinus University in Budapest.

Sister Laura Baritz Sarolta is also a member of the Council for Sustainable Development.

He is also the founder of the KETEG postgraduate evening economic training. The founder of the Keteg Oikonomia Intézet Foundation, which supports KETEG training by organizing conferences, events, and publishing books. In 2017, the KETEG project won first place in the competition announced by the Vatican Ratzinger Foundation and the Francesco de Vittoria University of Madrid, with papal recognition.

Due to her professional knowledge, determination, and community-building personality, the nun was nominated by European Parliament member György The award was presented on October 22 at the Europa Point in Budapest.
