At the Erzsébet camp in Zánka, almost four thousand campers can tune in for the upcoming holiday in three-day tours. The series of programs called Erzsébet-kárácsony was waiting for the participants between December 1 and 22, announced the minister without portfolio responsible for families at the press conference held on the spot.

Katalin Novák said that eight hundred children are currently participating in the program in the renovated Erzsébet camp in Zánka.

Thanks to the winterization of the buildings and the new and renovated program locations, children can take part in cultural and entertainment performances, leisure and Advent programs, from Monday to Wednesday and from Wednesday to Friday.

The Erzsébet Christmas started in 2016 as a one-day Budapest program for children, this year it was extended to several days and moved to the camp in Zánka. Hungarian public education and church institutions providing specialist child protection services could apply for the program, he said.

A great deal of emphasis is placed on the safety of the campers, keeping the appropriate distance, and wearing masks, emphasized the minister.

The main elements of the winter program series are the circus performance, the Christmas run and the Christmas creative house. In addition to all this, an interactive playground, a magic school and a chapel presenting the story of the first Christmas await young people, he explained.

He reminded: since the start of the Erzsébet camp, one million children have had the opportunity to go to camp.

Tibor Hornyák, the president of the Erzsébet Foundation, said that - for the sake of greater security - instead of the 3,400 guests that can be accommodated, a maximum of 1,200 people will stay in the camp area during the Christmas program series.
