In the last five years alone, the Orbán government spent more than HUF 3,600 billion on the development of expressway sections; according to the statistics office of the union, between 2009 and 2019, the length of expressway sections in Hungary increased at the third highest rate in the EU - László György, the state secretary responsible for economic strategy and regulation of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology (ITM) was quoted as saying on the social page of Magyar Nemzet on Saturday actor's entry.

Since 2010, the length of the expressway network has increased by 65 percent (724 kilometers) and now exceeds 1,800 kilometers. And with the additional investments that are currently underway or in preparation, it will well exceed two thousand kilometers - announced László György.

The State Secretary of the ITM recalled that three goals were set for the development of expressways after 2010: that the highways reach the national borders and connect Hungary with neighboring countries, that all cities with county rights become accessible by four-lane roads by 2025, and that

BECOME A FOUR-LANE ROAD FROM ANY POINT IN THE COUNTRY WITHIN THIRTY MINUTES BY 2025.

László György emphasized that the creation of a dense and safe road network, among other things, gives a huge boost to local economic and industrial development, stimulates tourism, and also makes the region more attractive for investments, which in turn create new jobs and lay the foundation for the growth of the given region.

In addition, these developments reduce transport costs, so products and services can be cheaper, which is a win-win for all Hungarians, since we have to pay less in the store," he added. In his post, the politician pointed out that it does not matter what the state finances these investments with, and that "the left-wing governments before 2010 made a huge mistake when they built the M5 and M6 motorways under concession contracts that were extremely unfavorable to the state ".

According to some calculations, Hungary lost nearly three thousand billion forints on these investments compared to if it had financed the developments with loans.

And let's also add that this huge amount of money mainly went to foreigners," Magyar Nemzet quoted György László as saying.
